Indian Wooden Printing Block Set – William Morris Inspired

Inspired by the timeless beauty of William Morris’ iconic Larkspur design, this collection of seven hand-carved wooden printing blocks captures the elegance, rhythm and detail of traditional textile patterns.

Each block is carefully handcrafted in Jaipur, India, as part of a Fairtrade project, using sustainably sourced sheesham wood. Designed to be both beautiful and practical, these blocks allow you to create your own printed fabrics, papers and decorative pieces with ease.

Included: Exclusive Online Workshop

With every purchase of this William Morris–inspired block set, you’ll receive complimentary access to our online workshop, hosted on Tuesday 26th May at 3pm.

This session is designed to help you get the most out of your blocks, guiding you through:

  • How to use the designs as both individual motifs and layered sets
  • Building repeat patterns and creating visual flow
  • Working with a curated colour palette
  • Techniques for achieving clean, consistent prints
  • Creative ideas for fabric and paper projects

It’s ideal for those who already have some experience with block printing and are looking to refine and develop their skills further.

About our blocks

Our printing blocks are individually hand carved by skilled artisans. The designs are first traced onto the wood before being intricately carved, then soaked in mustard oil to preserve the wood and ensure it remains non-absorbent for consistent, high-quality printing.

Each piece carries the character of handmade craftsmanship, making every print uniquely yours.

How to use

These versatile blocks can be used on fabric, paper, card and even clay.

For best results, apply paint using a sponge or dabber and work on a soft surface such as a foam printing mat. Fabric paints should be heat set with an iron to make your designs permanent, while acrylic paints work beautifully on paper and card.

Whether you’re creating repeat patterns or working with individual motifs, this collection is designed to help you experiment, layer and build depth in your designs.

Caring for your blocks

To ensure your blocks last a lifetime:

  • Wash before first use to remove any excess oil
  • Wipe clean between colours with a dry cloth
  • After use, rinse under warm water and gently scrub with a nail brush
  • Allow to dry fully before storing
