We’re thrilled to launch our latest collaboration and it’s something a little different for us! Our new embroidery kit, The Cottage Garden, brings together two beautiful crafts: the bold charm of block printing and the delicate detail of embroidery.

We wanted to create a project that not only celebrates handmade techniques but also invites you to slow down, experiment, and enjoy the process. Block printing lays the foundation with its organic patterns and tactile appeal, while embroidery adds colour, depth, and personality. The combination means that no two finished pieces will ever be the same, every stitch and print is uniquely yours.

This kit has been designed to make it easy for you to try both crafts in one mindful, creative experience. Whether you’re looking to unwind, explore new skills, or simply make something beautiful, The Cottage Garden is here to spark your imagination.

Everything you need to create your very own hand-stitched floral masterpiece is right here in this kit. Featuring exclusive artwork by The Crafty Lass and step-by-step guidance from Flynn & Mabel, it’s designed to make embroidery simple, relaxing, and rewarding—even if you’re brand new to it.

Each kit comes with everything you need to get started – from a piece of natural cotton that’s been hand block printed and cut in our Oxfordshire studio, to colourful threads, quality needles, a sturdy wooden hoop, and simple step-by-step instructions to guide you through

Whether you’re picking up a needle for the first time or rediscovering a much-loved hobby, this kit has everything you need to sit back, stitch, and enjoy a little creative calm.

The Team

At The Indian Block Print Co, our passion has always been bringing the timeless beauty of block printing to life. Recently, we felt inspired to take that creativity a step further and explore fresh new avenues. That journey led us to Flynn and Mabel, a discovery that felt like the perfect creative match. With our friend, the wonderfully talented Paula Milner (also known as The Crafty Lass), this collaboration naturally unfolded into an exciting new chapter of craft, colour, and imagination.

The Crafty Lass

Meet Paula Milner (@thecraftylass)

Paula Milner is a true multi-crafter – a sewist, tutor, illustrator, and designer whose passion for creativity shines through everything she makes. In 2015, she founded The Crafty Lass with a simple mission: to inspire adults to embrace creativity through fun, achievable crafts.

Since then, Paula’s creative journey has flourished. She has collaborated with leading names in the craft industry, designed beautiful fabrics for Craft Cotton Co, and developed woodblock collections with Indian Block Print Co. Her expertise has also found its way onto bookshelves, with two published titles to her name: Simple Paper Flowers and Cricut Craft.

We’ve had the pleasure of working with Paula on previous collections, where she created some of our most beautiful and popular hand-drawn block designs – including the much-loved Sweet Pea and Anemone sets. Her ability to translate natural forms into delicate, thoughtful illustrations makes each collaboration truly special, and The Cottage Garden kit is no exception.

"Drawing flowers with their natural colourful beauty, their seasonal resilience to grow, entwined with their associations of friendships, life events and love – they bring me so much inspiration!"

Flynn & Mabel

Meet Jenny Billingham (@flynn_and_mabel)
Jenny is a self-taught embroidery artist with a background in surface design and printed textiles. She first began experimenting with embroidery in 2020, and what started as a personal exploration quickly blossomed into a thriving creative career.

Since then, Jenny has authored Easy Embroidery Embellishment, co-authored Creative Embroidery & Beyond, and her work has been featured in leading stitching magazines. With her fresh, accessible style and simple techniques, Jenny has inspired a global audience – building a community of over 2 million followers across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube.

Her ability to turn stitches into something joyful and approachable makes her the perfect collaborator for this project, helping us create a kit that’s not only beautiful but also fun and achievable for makers of all levels.

The Indian Block Print co.

As you may already know, The Indian Block Print Co. is our family-run business here in Oxfordshire, built around a love for the traditional craft of Indian wood block printing. We work closely with talented artisans in India to design and create our own range of hand-carved wooden printing blocks, each one made with incredible skill and care.

From our Oxfordshire studio, we also run creative workshops where you can experience the magic of block printing for yourself. And if you’d rather get stuck in at home, we provide everything you need – from blocks and inks to fabrics and tools – so you can enjoy this timeless craft wherever you are.

We’ve even written a book, Indian Block Printing- An Inspirational Project Book, so you can explore the techniques, history, and inspiration behind this beautiful art form in even more depth.
