We're thrilled to introduce our Jaipur Pattern collections, inspired by the rich heritage of traditional Indian textile designs. These innovative block sets offer a fresh approach to creating repeating patterns, making it simple to achieve intricate, professional-looking prints with a distinctly handmade character.

Inspired by Traditional Jaipur Textiles

Each collection features coordinating motifs in a variety of sizes and shapes, allowing you to build layered designs using both positive and negative relief printing techniques.

Negative relief printing is where the printed colour forms the background, while the pattern itself emerges through the unprinted spaces, creating beautifully detailed effects that are characteristic of traditional hand block printing.

Every set contains nine carefully designed blocks and is presented in a handmade, block-printed paper box, crafted in India using traditional methods. Produced in limited quantities, each collection is a special addition to our range.

A Summer Cushion Project

To celebrate the launch of the Jaipur collections, we used the patterns to create a series of hand-printed cushion covers for our outdoor studio seating area.

The repeating motifs proved perfect for this project, bringing colour, texture and a fresh seasonal feel to our garden space.

Choosing the Colours

For this project we worked with a palette inspired by summer gardens. These colours complement one another beautifully and demonstrate how easy it is to mix and match the Jaipur patterns while maintaining a cohesive look.

For the project we used:

  • Organic cotton cushion covers non-piped
  • Jaipur pattern blocks
  • Fabric paints
  • Foam printing mat
  • Masking tape
  • Application sponges
  • Paint tray
  • Paper (for inside the cussion cover)

The process is simple enough for beginners while still offering plenty of scope for experimentation.

Printing the Cushions

We experimented with both positive and negative relief printing techniques, building up layers of pattern across the fabric. The different motifs work together naturally, allowing you to create professional-looking repeat designs with very little planning. One of our favourite aspects of the Jaipur collections is how each design stands alone beautifully while also forming part of a larger coordinated story.

We've filmed the entire process so you can follow along at home. The video covers preparing the fabric, choosing colours, using the blocks, and creating balanced repeating patterns.
