Introducing It’s a Dog’s Life, our joyful new collection of Indian wooden printing blocks, created in collaboration with Suffolk-based print artist Lovely Lydia.
Inspired by the much-loved dogs that are such a big part of our homes and families, Lydia wanted this collection to capture dogs simply being dogs, running, playing, bounding and gambolling together, each one full of its own character and personality.
From fluffy and scruffy to long, spotty and floppy-eared, the collection brings together a playful pack of canine characters. Some hint at recognisable breeds, while others have been deliberately kept a little more ambiguous, Lydia’s hope is that you might just spot the character of your own beloved dog amongst them!
Designed to work beautifully alone or as a set, the blocks can be mixed, matched and repeated to create everything from a single characterful print to what Lydia describes as a “Canine Carnival” – a joyful exuberance of dogs at play.
Print them onto tote bags, clothing, cushions, stationery, fabric and more, or use them to give an old piece a new lease of life. Whether you choose one favourite character or bring the whole set together, there are endless ways to make the designs your own.
For Lydia, this collaboration is also a very special full-circle moment. Her own creative journey began over 10 years ago after discovering The Indian Block Print Co. at a fabric show and buying her first wooden printing blocks. Now, her original dog designs have been transformed into beautifully hand-carved wooden printing blocks by our skilled block makers in India.
